HubCAPP stands for the Hub of Commissioned Alcohol Projects and Policies. It was commissioned by the Department of Health and is run in partnership through Alcohol Concern
.
The Hub highlights not only what projects exist but how they link to local and national strategies and meet government targets and indicators. The Hub also outlines how initiatives were commissioned, received funding, why alcohol was prioritised as an issue in the area and what the outcomes have been.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, the Hub aims to be a leading resource in sharing knowledge and practice across England. The Hub will prove invaluable to those working in the alcohol-harm reduction field and those planning or funding new initiatives.
What types of practice will be identified?
HubCAPP has a focus on identifying and sharing local and regional practice in relation to reducing alcohol harm. We are particularly looking at providing information on:
Prevention Strategies
- which targeted messages work with which groups
- examples of materials and methods that have demonstrated attitude or behaviour change
Intervention Approaches
- Screening and Brief Intervention (SBI) examples across Primary Health Care and hospital settings, including A&E
- Monitoring and data collection methods for SBI currently in practice
- Practice examples of ideal treatment systems (as described in MoCAM) across all four tiers
