Regional Alcohol Managers / Offices
Arrangements have been put in place with Regional Public Health Groups to establish Regional Alcohol Managers/Offices (RAM/Os). These RAM/Os will facilitate regional delivery of reduced alcohol related hospital admissions by monitoring delivery against the VSC 26.

Roles
The RAM's will be responsible for the link between Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs), Government Offices (GOs), Local Authorities (LAs) and the Department of Health in order to achieve VSC 26 and the PSA. RAM/Os will be accountable to the Department of Health for:
- supporting for VSC 26 and NIS 39 target setting and delivery by local partnerships
- supporting SHA performance management of VSC 26 indicator targets
- influening the development and support delivery of local PCT targets related to VSC 26
- regional co-ordination and joint working with the alcohol improvement team for targeted and enabling support commissioned by DH to reduce alcohol-related admissions
- co-ordination and targeting of action to support local social marketing initiatives
- quarterly reporting on regional activity towards VSC 26 to include qualitative reporting on action at PCT level towards VSC 26 and NIS 39.
